I was over to the Qplex today for the Irving Oil Tournament. Nice facility. The walking track is three lanes around the ice surface. It will be a great place to walk. Hope everyone gets a chance to check it out!

I see the QPlex is having it's official opening this week. I am hoping to get over to see some of the hockey this weekend and check the place out. Does anyone know how the walking track membership around will work? I am hoping that we can just purchase a family membership. I know that it is open from 8 am - 10 pm. I am excited to have this facility in my backdoor.

Hi AngelainCanada - I am from quispamsis and can't wait until the QPlex is open and all that snow leaves us! I go to the goodlife to keep me on track on the weekends - I'm usually too busy during the week, so I just work out at home. I am a great outdoor person, so hopefully when the weather clears we can catch up to go for walks and chat to help each other out. My hubbie & I went snowshoweing on the trails in the woods around the QPlex it was a great time and a good workout. In the spring, my sister & I like to walk our dogs around the QPlex trails in the woods. We start at the dog park and can go for a good hour hike through the woods. It's a good cardio workout cause there's lots of hills through the woods. You'll have to try it sometime if you haven't already. :)

I would love to have a workout buddy in Quispamsis if anyone is around. It's hard to be alone, but I am making friends at the classes I have been attending.

I enjoy reading your blogs, so I hope you set your profile so that we can share in your journey. Starting to be more active after a long period of inactivity can be a difficult obstacle to overcome. Last year when I started the challenge it was a major feat for me to manage to get up off the couch let alone go for a brisk walk or exercise. I started slow and worked at it, but now I know I was too slow to get going on that side of it. I did have great success on the food side and that helped me drop some major weight in the first few weeks and that allowed me to be able to start being more active. I counted calories and kept a notebook with me that I recorded everything thing I consumed. I ate smaller portions and cut out the bad foods. Building on success in one areas helps to get you moving on other areas.
A respected vetern friend used to say, do the drill till it becomes a routine, then do the routine till it becomes a habit then keep the habit till it becomes a lifestyle. That was likely the pattern that got me in trouble because the drill was the wrong foods and the wrong inactivity choices, but it works just as effectively for the right choices for the right foods and the right activities.

Jan 15, 2011 is a new start for the new National Challenge, hope to see most of the group back to continue on our journey.
We all have more to do and I hope it was not just a shot in the dark for you, this is a life style change and we need to work at it everyday for the rest of what will be a much longer healthier and happier life.
There are ups and downs, good days and bad days, it is up to us to string more good days together and then there will be less and less of the bad days.
Your support and encouragement is needed by everyone in the group.

Hope to see a good turn out on the 18th!! I have not lost as much weight as I wanted to but this journey has helped change who I am and I know now that I am on the right track and will continue and meet that goal - it might take another 6 months but I am happy with who I am now and have more self confidence than ever and that means so much more to me than any number on a scale - it means it is coming off this time and staying off!! Can't wait to see the transformations that some of you have made. oh and very excited for the bootcamp!!!
