Good luck ladybug! I recently got a bike, but I don't know how to ride it. A friend of mine is coming by to teach me soon! :)

so i've decided to do the CN cycle for CHEO (Children's hospital of eastern ontario) on may 2nd! i was CHEO champion in 1998 and i'm looking forward to doing something to give back. i'm going to be biking 35K. i finaly got my bike fixed and i rode it for the first time in 3 years yesterday...wow i'm out of shape...and now my butt hurts but i'm sure i'l get used to it. i biked yesterday and then to campus and back today..next is biking to work and back saturday and sunday so i hope it goes well. its going to be a little harder then i expected! i'll let you guys know how it goes

Congratulations jshkolny! Don't forget that being active and eating well is something that your little bundle of joy will benefit from as well!

Hi Vikki! I'm new too, only on week two (and not doing such a great job yet). I'll definitely be logging on to check the forum, and you've can have all of the motivation I can give!

Today was a tough day, first day at a new (and labourous) job. Didn't eat enough this morning and nearly passed out once the sun rose - a quick snack and some water fixed me right up. I think that I'll have to target my diet a little differently. I had tons of success after cutting starched, but I think I'll need those quick calories if I'm going to be working 10-12 hour labour shifts in the sun.

Wish me luck and keep up the great work!

Hi everyone,

I just happened to stumble onto the x-weighted website this last week so I'm just joining the challenge. So while your all on week 6 or 7? I'm on week 1! I have 48lbs to lose. You are all so motivated and encouraging it will make this that much easier. I cant wait to hear more about your successes and hopefully help to motivate others on this daunting but wonderful task. :)

So long team! Keep up the great weight loss. I will now be moving in the other direction and gaining weight for the next 7 months instead of loosing it. I was wondering why I was only loosing a tiny bit for the last little while. Maybe I will join next year with a new bundle of joy in tote.

I'm glad tracking what you're eating is working for you! Just remember that your goal should be eating right, not eating enough.

I have trouble digesting starch, so I stay away from it, because of that I make up carbs using fruits/veggies - and I have to eat SOO much. I eat more than anyone I know - but still don't go over my 1300 cal target.

I find that having to track what I eat keeps me accountable for what I put in my mouth. I hope it keeps working for you too!

Someone here recommended fitDay.com and thanks! I'm loving tracking what I eat. I've lost 10lbs so far and my down fall is what I'm putting in my mouth. Naive, but I didn't realize HOW much I was eating. Tracking on there made the bells go off! Thanks!

Okay - I'm new here, so I'm not sure which direction to read these posts in. However, Revenant if you're still looking for an answer to your diet issues I'd love to chime in!

I have two takes on managing your diet (and I don't mean using fad diets!) :

From my nutritionist :
Eat well and eat often.
Her suggestions including adding fruits/vegetables, eating whole grains and eating every three hours (with smaller portions). She cautions against eating while watching tv or standing up. She also suggest pairing protein and carbs at every meal. The good news is : she says that treats are allowed, but only when paired with a meal.

From my trainer :
Eat well, eat often, eat clean, count calories.
My trainer gave me this great website to track my eating habits (fitday.com).
He says that every day I should be eating 15% fat, 25% protein and 60% carbohydrates.
Based on my height, weight and age (5'6", 240lbs, 21yrs) he suggested that a normal diet should consist of 1600-1800 calories a day. In order to lose weight he had me cut that to 1200-1400 calories a day, but no less!
He also had me cut starches alltogether. I still take a wrap for lunch, but for the most part I eat only lean meats, fruits, veggies and low-fat dairy.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Lady bug, I did go to my Doctor this past week and he is putting me on meds to help with the water retention. I was getting pretty down especially with the amount I work out I may not have hit my 10 pound goal again yet but I have lost 13 inches so the progress is there.
Thanks jshkolny any motivations is helpful, I keep telling my self its not the numbers on the scale its how I look and feel. I have going to zumba twice a week and I am going to start a spin class as well so hopefully the pounds will start to fall off
Thanks again

What sort of eating plan are folks following? I have looked up the calories that I should be eating on various sites and they all disagree! The one thing they do agree on is that if I under eat or over eat then I am doomed to no weight loss hell.
I'm considering weight watchers to simplify. Anyone here having sucess using it as part of their challenge? It's just sooo expensive.
