Sharla is a burned out single mother whose weight is making it harder and harder to take care of her daughter, Toni, who has cerebral palsy. Sharla struggles to lift Toni up and down stairs. If Sharla couldn't take care of Toni anymore, it would be the worst thing in the world for the whole family.
Besides her weight making life difficult, Sharla wants to set a better example for Toni and her little sister Sydney, so they don’t face the same weight battles that she’s had to fight. Sharla dreams of taking Toni on a 50km bike ride, but at her current weight and fitness level she’d never manage it.
Sharla gets through the day on energy drinks and junk food. When she tries to cook healthy food, the kids refuse it and turn their noses up at vegetables. If Sharla is ever going to succeed, she’s going to need to make some major changes to the family’s diet, and get on her bike and start riding off some of that weight.
