Daniel
Daniel is very unhappy with his weight. It affects every part of his life. He struggles to fit into his clothes each morning, then when he gets to school, is bullied both physically and emotionally by the other kids. His parents, Tara and Darren, are heartsick about the bullying Daniel endures, but their own eating habits are exacerbating Daniel’s problem.
Tara, who is also obese, often eats TWO calorie laden take-out dinners, setting a bad example with every bite. She wonders if her reliance on junk food is causing the mood swings that have her yelling at Daniel all the time. She is deeply unhappy and struggles to cope with Daniel and his brother’s ADD/ADHD issues.
Tara keeps treats locked in a cupboard rather than getting rid of temptation. Her idea of a “healthy” meal is loaded with gravy and butter. Both she and her husband, Darren, are shocked to hear from Dr Macklin that the food they are feeding their sons aggravates ADHD/ADD issues. It is critical that Tara learns to feed her family healthy foods and provides the support Daniel needs to succeed.
