Adrienne

Adrienne has established herself as the “big funny girl” among her friends, but she can’t escape feeling like a failure. All her friends are dating, but at her size she feels like nobody will want her. Her mother, Michele, wants to help her change her life, but Adrienne rejects her mother’s assistance as hypocritical nagging.

Furthermore, 16 year old Adrienne feels jealous that her mother is slim and attractive and has a boyfriend – all things that she would like for herself. This only adds to the layers of tension and resentment that keep Adrienne stuck fast in negativity and a body she detests.

Adrienne is on the brink of becoming a young adult and despite her animosity towards her mother she knows she must start taking responsibility for her own body and what she’s doing to it.

Beating up on herself and feeling angry about her mom’s good fortune is draining all the joy out of teenage years that she knows should be fun and carefree. Adrienne knows that she has potential – it’s time to live up to it.
