Season 5 of X-Weighted Families is now Filming
We are now filming the new season of X-Weighted – season 5. We thought that all you fans might like to hear a little bit about this next season from our supervising producer, Candice Tipton, who has been working at Anaid productions since the final season of Taking It Off, and has worked on all the seasons of X-Weighted.
We have started filming in 2 of our 3 cities: Kelowna and Vancouver - it is all very exciting. We have 13 new families to film, 4 in Vancouver, 4 in Kelowna and 5 in Calgary.
We have all different kinds of families. We will be filming the stories of incredible, courageous families again this season - like the story of a family devastated by the loss of a loved one, of two sisters determined to set aside their differences to save their father, of a teen girl too ashamed to eat in public and a young boy at high risk of a heart attack. They are all facing different challenges, and bringing a different outlook to the show.
This season we are bringing back some of the elements that we skipped in season 4, and that we know people really missed. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to tell you what they are right now because several of our families have not started their journey and I don't want to ruin the surprise for them.
In Kelowna we are about to start the families’ second weigh-in, and in Vancouver we are 2 weeks into the new families’ journeys. In Calgary, it'll be a couple of weeks before we have their first big weigh-in. The families are all really excited to see the ways in which their lives will change and they're eager to get healthier. They are all also looking forward to the opportunity to bond more as a family, many of them see this as a major goal of being part of X-Weighted.
Paul Plakas and David Macklin have really enjoyed meeting with the new families, and are having a lot of fun in these first few weeks of filming.
We have some really exciting fitness goals this year. One family is aiming to take on the Grouse Grind (a grueling hike up Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain) and given their current level of fitness, it is going to be tough for them to meet that goal. We also have one family that wants to swim across Lake Okanagan and another with the goal of standup paddling, which we’d never heard of before they brought it to us as a goal.
Everyone on the production side of things is really excited about season 5, we know it is going to be another great one.

More time?
Are you moving back to 6 months rather than 4? It seems like there wasn't enough time for significant changes/improvements last season.
There will always be some people who won't put in the work, but it would be nice to see more people get out of the obesity category.
This season...
... families will be filmed for between 5 and 6 months.

Can't wait for season 5 to air. I can honestly say that until Paul was in SJ I had never even heard of the show, I dont usually watch much TV. However since I went to the xweighted simenar in SJ i have watched the show faithfully. It helps me with my weight lose journey to see how hard these people work , and gives me the motivation to keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
