Question of the Week
Jun 26, 2010
Every Sunday, we'll be asking you a question about one aspect of your journey. We hope that when answering this question (by replying to the blog post) not only will it get you thinking, but your answers may provide inspiration for other challenge participants.
Today we'd like to ask....
How has my outlook on exercise changed since beginning this challenge? What do I still need to work on?

I miss it when I miss it
When I don't exercise I feel tired and bored and depressed. The more energy I use, the more I have, and I get angry when I don't have enough time to exercise. It's like not having enough time to eat.
Gotta go for a walk. Now.
Daily Exercise Benefits
Almost every day I notice another benefit to becoming a regular exerciser:
1. I just painted my daughters bedroom. The rolling, reaching, bending, stretching usually bothers my back, but because I've gotten stronger and have better core strength, I feel the fatigue at the end of the day, but after a good nights sleep, I am ready to go again.
2. I have IBS and my symptoms have all but disappeared.
3. If I do hurt my lower back, the recovery time is next to nothing, compared to pre-exercise recovery being days.
4. I am a Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers. Maintaining my goal weight is so much easier with daily exercise. We all have to learn balance and with exercise being part of my everyday routine, I can pretty much eat a balanced, healthy diet with the occasional treat and have no problems at all.
I have to thank the X-Weighted team again for offering the opportunity to participate in this challenge. It has been the "icing on the cake" for me. It has pulled it all together and made it a lifestyle change, no longer on or off a diet. THANK YOU!
My attitude regarding
My attitude regarding exercise has changed in subtle ways. I have for 2 years now been loyal at getting on the treadmill but I did tend to make excuses of why I didn't have to use it on some days - now I am faithful 5 days a week (unless I am ill).
When I am golfing I no longer take a golf cart unless it is extremely hot or we golf more than 9 holes and then I don't drive and still try to do a lot of walking from the cart. Any chance I get at work I get up from my desk and walk even if it is just one sheet of paper and even if I have just been there - it is my excuse to walk. Also, at home prior to Xweighted I avoided going up and down the stairs and now I make several trips even if I have just been there. So that way my attitude has changed but I am still not an avid gym person or runner.
My outlook on exercise has
My outlook on exercise has changed drastically. I look at exercise now at a way to energize my body instead of something tiring and boring. While I exercise, I visualize my muscles working and getting stronger, which helps me focus. I think my attitude for exercise is very, very good, all I have to work on now is the fuel to drive my exercise. My eating is still far from perfect, and that directly affects my performance.
Establishing routine
Exercise has to be a habit for me. When I started, I wanted to make it so, and after doing it week in and week out over the past few months I have made it so.
I have also elevated exercise on my priority list. So that it now ranks with my necessity activities. Even when work is keeping me 7 days a week, I still get healthy food, make sure the dog has her exercise, and that I have my exercise.
The only thing I still need to work on is remembering my cardio on weight lifting days. I accidentally missed one for the first time in two months... I just completely forgot in the rush of the end of the week, and starting on weekend chores.
