Paul Plakas Tells us to Race Towards the end of the Challenge
With just over a week until the final weigh-in day (July 10th), we asked Paul Plakas to tell us how to deal with this last week. Not surprisingly, Plakas is telling us all to go hard, right up to the end!
Don’t slack off now you are almost there. Treat it like an athlete would, with determination. When athletes get near the finish line they'll sprint to the end even when they are not going to win anything: They always want to finish hard.
That's the attitude you want to have with anything in life: When you're there, you always want to finish strong because that's always going to reflect in everything that you do. It's a good habit to get into. Don't get lackadaisical and think “Oh whatever, there's only one week left so what's the big deal”. Try to sprint to the finish.
That's what I always tell people on the show. Some participants on X-Weighted have really pulled it together at the end, and there are also people who think that because there is just a few weeks left and they aren’t hitting their goal that they should just give up. Don’t do that.
I want people to develop the habit of always working hard right up until the end. Don't let up. Striving for it, whatever it may be, is a habit you can build within yourself.
I think that it is fantastic that so many people signed up to do the X-Weighted National Challenge. It has exceeded all of our expectations so far. So many people signed up, and I am looking forward to seeing a whole bunch of those people finishing and succeeding.
It's going to be absolutely great to see the Grand Prize winners at my weekend retreat. I’m looking forward to meeting with those people that have done their very best and succeeded.
I can't wait to hear the winner's story and see how they did it. There are so many ways to lose the weight. It is always really neat finding out what path each person took to get to where they are. I like to know what their biggest obstacles are and how they overcame them. I learn from people who succeed on X-Weighted, and then I'm able to pass those experiences onto other people I help, so I’m looking forward to doing the same thing with the winners of the Challenge
Plus, the winners of my prize will get to meet with me and learn how to take their fitness to the next level. It’s a fantastic opportunity, so go hard in this last week!

Can't believe it's almost over
I am definitely sprinting hard to the finish... The last month I've been running my own blog, nancysansketchup.blogspot.com to document my last days in the challenge.
I had 10 pounds to go, which is sad considering I only had 18 to begin with. But I am almost there - only one pound to go!
faster on the downhill
Over the hump, finish line in sight. I never thought at the beginning that I would do as well as I have. This has worked amazingly well for me.
I haven't reached the goal set for me, but I know I will in time because I've learned new habits.
Yee-haw!
we rock!
all of us do .. for still being here.
cat attack - you are my hero. you inspire me continuously.
i'm not winning this challenge that's for sure. i've only lost 17lbs .. but you know what .. it's 17lbs i don't have to run with or carry up every hill i ride - so i'm happy with that.
so let's crush this last week and see where it ends.
and on a sentimental note .. i need to say how much i've enjoyed "meeting" so many of you .. and your stories are just so cool. its so much better to work on something as a team. so sending much sentimental soppy love out to all my XW friends.
even though i didnt get to
even though i didnt get to the goal weight that x-weighted set for me i did meet the one goal i wanted to be at for today. i did the hand over hand monkey bars today with my grandson mouse. its a promise that grandma made to him one yr ago july 1 i managed to do a few complete somersaults on the monkey bars with him which is something i havnt done since i was a kid. for me, the look on that little boys face today was my grand prize. as of today i am down 147 pounds total from when i first started in april 2008 i no longer have high blood pressure or type two diabetes and i went from sitting in the wheel chair waiting two knee replacements to running every day :0) had i listened to what the "experts said, i would prob still be in that chair crying why me?? pity parties?? nope not this chicky lol i have too much livin left.
the extra 20 pounds i am carrying is extra skin the doctor has told me, so when the time is right if i so choose i will have that taken care of. but for now im ok. i can run i can bike i can lift some extremely heavy weights and all that is good . but the best is the fun active busy time with my grand babies. when sydney 7 asks grandma lets go play soccer we go. when joey wants to box we box. or when the little mouse says " grandma lets just hang out on the monkey bars. we do that too!
so hats off to ever wins this . but remember your all winners here!!! :0)
HARD HARD
Yes Paul, Let's go HARD to the finish. I will miss my sometimes daily check-in on this site to see what's new. I'll keep going hard till 10 July and beyond.....What a journey this has been. Lets do it all together.... hard.... all the way.
Good luck!
Good luck to you who are in the challenge.
Those of us who still have multiple weeks to go, let's remember to sprint to the finish :)
