How Eric Mason has Used XWeighted.com to Lose 34 Pounds in 20 Weeks
Eric Mason was ready to change. “I looked like a tub of lard. I just decided I didn’t want to look like that anymore,” he says. He was watching an episode of X-Weighted and wondered if the show had any resources to help people lose weight, and stumbled upon XWeighted.com.
Since registering with the site, Eric has lost an amazing 34 pounds in 20 weeks. “It feels really good,” he says, “and it ends up being a lot of weight off me because I’m only 5’2” tall. My issues with asthma are pretty much nonexistent now.”
Complete Diet Overhaul
As soon as he started on his journey, he completely changed what he was eating. “I haven’t touched junk food since. I’m eating whole grains, fruits and vegetables – I eat a lot of vegetables every day,” he says.
He was already walking 3 miles a day with his dog, but has upped the distances he is walking and gotten back into weight-lifting and strength training.
Losing at a Steady Pace
Eric’s weight loss has been steady. He did drop 3 pounds on his first week, but then it was a steady 2 pounds a week until he hit week 13.
“I had a bit of a hiccup. I gained a pound, then I was losing a pound a week for a couple of weeks, then I had one week where I lost 4 pounds,” he says, “over the course of the month it had evened out so I was still losing at the same rate. While that was going on I was very careful of my calories and making sure I was getting the right nutrition.”
Facing Challenges
The biggest challenge that Eric faced initially was at the weekly games night he hosts. “The guys come over and the junk food comes out. There are bowls of chips and party mix and various other unhealthy snack foods. It was brutal for the first few times, but eventually I got over it and I could watch them all happily eating stuff,” he says, “they’d offer me junk and I’d say “I like the idea of seeing my abs is better than eating a piece of licorice”.”
Eric has developed willpower of steel, especially when it comes to pastry and cakes, which he adores. “At Easter, my chef friend brought over a large container of treats from an Easter buffet. There were tarts, small cakes with icing, and cheese cake. I didn't have any of them and chucked it all in the green bin,” he says.
Changing for Life
Eric says that he is in this for the long haul: “I see this is what I am going to be doing from now on.” He hopes that once he reaches his goal weight, he is going to be able to relax and have a beer once in a while, and just adjust his activity levels and calorie intake to compensate for that, but right now he wants to stay on track and not indulge or slip up.
The Benefits of Getting Healthy
Now that he is in such great shape, Eric is looking forward to getting more physical. Funnily enough, losing so much weight has meant that he won’t be able to complete his fitness goal.
“My fitness goal was 30 minutes of armored combat. Basically I put on reproduction medieval armor and we hit each other with clubs,” he explains, “but I’ve lost so much weight that my amour no longer fits and I need to build some more. That’s the way the cookie crumbles, you don’t really foresee changing shape quite that much.”
