Gearing up for the Saint John X-Weighted Event

Paul Plakas will be returning to Saint John, NB, where he will be hosting boot camps and giving talks in conjunction with the Saint John YMCA, Weight Watchers and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

These events will be happening on the 17th and 18th of July, and tickets are available for those who have been participating in the XWeighted.com National Challenge (and those that missed the original event but want to attend this one).

We spoke with event organizer, Shelley Rinehart, to find out exactly what is happening in Saint John that weekend….

We’ve planned a weekend of events with Paul Plakas, Weight Watchers, the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Saint John YMCA.

Boot Camps with Paul

On the 17th, we are going to have boot camps with Paul Plakas: In the morning we are going to have boot camps that are centered around youth, for kids between the ages of 12 and 16. That’s going to be at the Glenn Carpenter Center, a camp owned by the YMCA.

Then, in the afternoon, Paul will do two boot camps for adults. We have reserved a certain number of spots for people that have participated in the XWeighted.com National Challenge, plus we are selling some additional tickets to the others that want to participate.

Talking Fitness

On Sunday the 18th, we are going to be having our event finale. There will be a weigh-in, fitness test, talks from Weight Watchers and the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Y on maintaining a change of lifestyle forever.

At lunchtime, Paul will talk to the group, celebrating some of the people that have made really significant changes to their lifestyles and discussing how to maintain the good habits that we have learned in this journey.

In the afternoon, we will have a press meeting where we will announce how much money has been raised through these events for the YMCA and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Everyone is Welcome

We had more than 400 people attend the initial Saint John events, and though we expect we will lose a few as is typically the case, we are still expecting between 300 and 400 people to show up because of the additional people we hope to have picked up -  there were a lot of people that were unable to attend the first time around because the event sold out. We hope to see those people at this event. Even if they didn’t managed to get tickets for the first event, we have tickets available for the Boot Camp and for Paul’s talk on Sunday.

Please note: Participants who are in the National Challenge still need to do their online weigh-in by Saturday July 10th in order to qualify for the Grand Prizes.
