Game On! The National Challenge Starts Tomorrow
The moment that we have all been waiting for is almost here! The Challenge starts in less than 24 hours. Very soon, you'll have the opportunity to take the first step on a journey that could see you change your life, and your health, for the better.
If you are able to get to one of the events tomorrow, we hope that you'll have a great time as you get your fitness assessment done, and potentially meet with past participants and experts from the show, and meet with other National Challenge participants in your local area. (Don't forget that the first 50 people at each event will claim one of our fantastic loot bags.)
Whether you attend one of the events or not, everybody who is going to enter the Challenge will have to sign up online. You have just two days to enter, either tomorrow Saturday, 9th January, or the next day, Sunday, 10th January. Don't miss this opportunity!
We have already seen a large number of people commit to registering for the Challenge on our Facebook challenge page, as of now there are over 350 people signed up. All of us at XWeighted.com are very excited to see what the actual figures will be over the weekend.
Be sure to remind your friends and family to sign up tomorrow. This is going to be a fantastic adventure, and we can't wait to see how well everybody does on their journey.

Halifax Weigh in
I really wish I had of known about this before I logged on tonight!
None the less, I got started here at home, on my own. It would have been GREAT to be in Halifax and go through it all and have some accountability for it though, you know with having all those people there.
Here's to getting a good nights' sleep and starting fresh in the morning.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
Gramma from Calgary
I'm pumped to see what 6 short months I will look like

I hope to have improved so much more by the end of the 6months I'm looking forward to seeing how much better I'am at the very end of this challenge. Good luck to everyone out there..
Phew - I think I passed the fitness test.
I work out but that test... was still pretty Brutal!

I just got back from the weigh-in. I was a gym rat for years but man I felt weird even being there. 1:50 for the fitness test. Is that good for a middle-aged dude? :) Anyway make positive steps for a life time, starting with this one.

I didn't hear about the challenge until this morning and I was pleasantly pleased to find out that one of the YMCA's in my city offering the fitness test was only 5 minutes away!! I was third in line for the fitness test.:)
So happy to join-in
I had no idea this national challenge was on until I read The Chronicle Herald (Halifax) this morning (Sat. Jan 9). I went and did the evaluation at the South Park YMCA in Halifax. Prior this, I had set my own goal of loosing weight but by signing-in for this National Challenge, that's an extra motivator! I should be able to meet my goal in half the time I had set myself, wow, can't wait... Good luck to all!
can't wait!

I totally agree with you....LOVE IT...
WE CAN DO IT!
Canada....we love our children and have to lead the way to healthy and active lives. The next generation is the first to have a shorter life expectancy than our own. We can turn this alarming and tragic statistic around by deciding one person and one
parent/aunt/uncle/cousin/grandparent/son/daughter
at a time that it's a new decade and we owe it to ourselves and especially to the next generation.
ARE YOU WITH ME?
Looking forwarf to it!!!

Participating Fitness Centres
Amanda, You do not need to go to a fitness centre to be officially entered in this challenge. You simply register on-line and do the evaluation/fitness test that is described there. There is no fitness centre identified for Ottawa. Locations are posted in this site at http://xweighted.ca/blog/the-national-challenge-events-your-questions-an...

The link to participating fitness centres across the country "can not be found". Does anyone know where there is another list or link to the centres (I'm in Ottawa) so I can get an official start to the challenge?
Thanks! :o)
One week down
With the first week under my belt (which is a little smaller today) I am very happy and excited to start week 2.
Hope everyone had a great first week.
I'm ready
I can't wait to hit my goal weight!
Added incentive!
I've also joined a few friends on a weight loss challenge, too. Everyone who joins throws $20.00 into the pot. 9 of us now. Had to write down our weights and on April 1st we will see who has lost the highest percentage of weight! The "biggest loser" gets the pot! LOL
looking forward to it.
Really excited about the challange. Just needed some motivation. I hope it works out for me

New beginnings
I'm so excited to be starting this jounery. My kids are also excited and I think a little nervious as to how this will change their lives as well as mine. Time for the whole family to be more active..together.
The fitness test at home.
I need help. I signed up last night to start (missed the session in Halifax) but didn't have the weights to do the test when I first signed on. I went out and got them today but now I can't find the test again. I assume it is because I am already signed up and done my measurements etc. Can anyone remember what the components were for the test if it was done at home? I think the first part was the 20 lunges per leg, followed by the 10 pound weights up in the air and down to the ground 20 times. Was it then the up to a standing position and then down to the ground (with hips and chest touching the ground 20 times) followed by the jumping over the towel 20 times? Did I miss anything or get the reps wrong?
I missed it too and can't
I missed it too and can't find it anywhere but I will use the guidelines that you remember and see how I do.
Weekly weigh-ins
Are there weekly weigh-in or do we just follow it online?
Weekly Weigh-ins
No, we just follow it online. Not sure where you're located, but it might be fun and helpful for a group of participants to get together periodically for a weigh-in. Maybe the volunteers who did the fitness testing might be agreeable to meeting with us for rechecks....worth asking.
