February National Challenge Challenge Check-in

paaaaaHere we are at the end of February and about to enter the 8th week of the Challenge! We are already a quarter of the way through. Are you doing good? Meeting your goals so far?

Keep Your Eyes on the Prizes!

We realize that it is hard to stay motivated, especially in gloomy February, so wanted to give you a little more information on the Grand Prizes to give you more reason to stay on track.

First, let's talk about the Paul prize. Besides the fact that you'll be getting an all expenses paid trip to Canmore, AB, to stay at a mountain retreat with a friend, you'll also get a lot of one-on-one time with Paul Plakas. Paul will give you nutritional coaching, take you on a couple of hikes and put you through the paces on exercise sessions. "Myself and a couple of personal trainer friends will take you through all that," says Paul, "It should be a lot of fun, and different levels of fitness will be catered for."

The 2nd Grand Prize, that all expenses paid trip to Toronto with Fred Connors will give you the ultimated X-Weighted reveal experience. Fred says that the winner of this prize will be given the royal treatment, and he's going to transform them completely. "I'll make them feel truly beautiful," he says.

The 3rd grand prize is one that will help you stay on track and maintain your great results. You'll recieve a premium ULTIMATE US-2 from Ultimate Fitness, valued at $2200. No matter what your fitness level the Ultimate Sport’s US-2 Home Gym will achieve your desired level of conditioning.

Participant Focus

We are just so proud of all of you that have stuck with the Challenge, and especially thoe who are blogging about your efforts and sharing your challenges and successes with the XWeighted.com Community.

MonieraWe spoke with participant Moniera Khan (Moniera) about how she was doing so far.

How are you doing at working towards your goals on the Challenge?

My goal for this year is to do a half-marathon. I had that goal in my head even before I signed up for the X-Weighted challenge. But I think I need to rename it learn to love running … right now I’m just working on getting over my extreme dislike of running!

I’m running a couple of times a week. My trail runs usually score way higher on the whoohoo factor than the pavement runs. Of course this is completely useless as far as doing a half-marathon on sidewalks goes .. gggrrroooaaan.

Are you enjoying yourself?

YEAHH!!! I’m supplementing my training with spinning classes and riding outside whenever possible. I’m also doing the Whistler Granfondo (and organized bicycle ride) in September so am working on getting my legs ready for that.

I have a system-malfunction, where I actually LOVE exercise – goodness knows it does me no good... but I’m happiest when I’m working super hard! :)

What has been your greatest challenge so far?

My biggest challenge is staying motivated on the X-Weighted challenge! I’ve been losing about a pound a week …. and every week the beast in the computer tells me “Oops you’re a bit off track” – then I reach for my sword and slay the demon… ggrrr.

But it has been hard to stay motivated and come back every week to enter my weight knowing it’s going to seem so dismal in comparison - and I’m actually pleased with a pound a week, because I usually NEVER lose weight for all the dieting and exercise. So for me 8lbs in 6 weeks is actually success.

What has been your greatest triumph since you started?

There have been several. Actually seeing the number on the scale go down as been great. Having to work SO much harder to get my heart rate up at spinning has been great. Being able to run further, longer, harder has been amazing. Feeling like I don’t even care what the scale says when I feel this amazing after a great workout.

Passage of time

The weeks have passed so quickly! Recording the weight has been a great motivator. I expect to meet the goal set soon and then it is up to me to keep the good eating habits. I have not really gotten into exercise yet because of an injured knee.

stories are motivational

The prizes sound great - it really is a bonus on top of all the rewards we receive by getting into shape.

It's also great motivation and inspiration to hear about the community's efforts and accomplishments. It's not easy, but we'll get there eventually.

Paul's Prize

OK - how great would that first prize be ... but don't we kinda need that now? If you've already won the challenge by losing the most weight, doesn't that kinda mean you don't need the help as badly.

Ooooohhh I want that prize sooo badly!!

Would love

I would love to get to Paul's place and benefit from his knowledge.

For Moniera there no obstacles only solutions so keep going girl, you're doing good.

Losing a pound a week is the type of loss that you can maintain.
