Signing your child up for a fun fitness activity is a great way to help them lose weight and get healthy. If they do something that they truly enjoy, it is going to be a lot easier for them to stay on track. From African dance to capoeira to Pilates, there are so many different activities that they can try.

There is an added bonus to signing up for children’s fitness programs: Canadian parents who register their child in a program of physical activity are eligible for an annual tax credit of up to $500 per child. For more information on this great government incentive, click here.

It is amazing to see the variety of activities available depending where you are.

Wish I was a Kid Again!

With all these great programs our kids should never be bored or lazy. My boys are into hockey. Last week I signed up to learn to be a goalie for a womens league - I must be crazy but it sounds like fun. It will also be something I can do with my kids.

Rural NB

Great stuff posted. Rural NB has so many outdoor things to offer but parents have to be the ones to attend witht he kids unless it is a recreational - competitive activity.

Active children

My son is 17 and he loves to walk to and from school and work. walking to work is 4 km one way which he does several times a week. He loves to listen to his walkman and just in general loves the outdoors. I love that he loves to walk and he really misses it when he is not able to due bad weather. He doesn't play sports so this is a great way for him to keep in shape and he truly loves it. It is real important for our children to exercise so they develop good habits for their adult years.

Excellent!

I think this is a great idea! With all the modern techology our children are far too sedentary and need to get moving in ways that they will find fun and keep doing!!
