Fallen off the Wagon? Come Jump Back on!
Here we are in the middle of week 17, and we know that a lot of the Challenge participants have not weighed in for several weeks and therefore stuck with the Challenge. We at X-Weighted are urging you to come back and keep on going.
The Greatest Prize
Although not weighing in does mean that you are no longer eligible for the grand prizes, there is so much more at stake. You have a chance to get healthy and make lifelong changes that will make your life better.
Finding Motivation
Over the next few weeks we are going to post the real stories of X-Weighted National Challenge participants that have managed to make huge changes to their lives over the course of the Challenge. We hope that this will inspire those that are still in the running for the contest to work hard and stay on track, but also that it will help those of you that have lost motivation to get back on with it.
Every one of us has the power to change our lives. And there is no one that is going to do it for us. We have to do it ourselves.
Think back to the reasons why you started the Challenge. Was it because you wanted to keep up with your kids, or make sure that you’d be around to see them graduate high-school? Was it because you were just tired of being tired, of aching and not having your body function the way it should? Did you just want to look better in your clothes? Whatever the reason, look back and think about whether it is still important. We’re guessing it is, and you should start again to try and reach your goals.
You CAN do it
Losing weight isn’t easy – which is why so many of us carry around excess pounds – but the rewards of doing so are so high. You can do it, just like those that have stuck with the Challenge have.
Check out the community groups for support and read through these motivational blogs. Get fired up about losing weight again and getting healthy, which is the ultimate grand prize for all of us.

jump or fall
I did neither of these, but, I have lost some precious ground on being on track. I guess I need to pick up the pace of the workout. I have now up-'d my intensity and hopefully my endurance and weight loss will follow. I have changed the way I am working out, hopefully I will see an improvement.
Sense of Community
I truly think that the sense of community that this challenge has provided has been wonderful. I have found great support and the weekly blogs, focus videos and expert videos have been really helpful.
I have made life changing improvements in my little piece of the world and am so pleased to have been a part of this challenge.
This is not a dress rehearsal. We only have one shot at this journey and living life to the fullest, at my ideal weight and eating good, clean, healthy food and exercising has been a gift! Thank you.
although my weight has not
although my weight has not changed in the past few weeks , i have not fallen off the wagon. i am still here kickin ass working hard and eating clean. my trainer told me today that becouse i am close to goal my weight loss will stall abit and becouse of the amount of weight i lost i have a fair amount of skin( saw a surgeon about that this week) so i may not make it to the official x-weighted goal becouse of the exess skin but thats ok i know what im doing, im consistant and im never going back! the things i am doing now, are just amazing things i never dreamed i would be doing. i feel alive and a hell of alot younger now than i did 10 yrs ago. one of my goals was to be able to do the hand over monkey bars with my 6 yr old grandson mouse and guess what? im almost there i have the physical strength to do it now and thats all that matters. he is so looking forward to grandma doing that with him
so dont give up keep plugging aweigh lol dreams are meant to be dreamed but also to be realized. i know im living mine now! :0)
Hang in there
You sure have made some progress. Go cat go...
I am one of the many that
I am one of the many that have fallen off the wagon. However, I do continue to enter my weight weekly. I am greatful for this challenge and this site. It is my weekly reminder that I can do it. It is always in my mind that I do want to make the choice to change my lifestyle and eating habits. I just have to put it into action.
By some miracle I still hope to reach my goal (although it's getting almost unrealistic) but I won't give up completely.
Hang in there everyone. You're doing great!
The right time for me
I was lucky enough to be away from home when the article in the local newspaper came to my attention. I did miss the official weigh in and fitness test although I was only a few blocks away. It was a time that I was ready to take on weight loss and the body was ready to co-operate. I initially was relying more on food consumption and then could increase the physical activity.
I do not expect to fall off the wagon before the challenge period ends but do not know how to handle situations that I cannot control. Knowing how to get back on the wagon is a necessary skill.
goal
There is no way I'm going to make my goal - I'm too far behind already. To catch up I'd have to cut off a leg at the thigh or something as drastic.
But I'm still weighing in because it keeps me on track, even if I lag. Winning the prize is not as important as changing my life. I have changed a lot of habits.
But what will I do when the program is over?
Recognize Great Effort
You have had to deal with particular challenges and seem to be very motivated. If you keep working at it before another challenge, you will probably be a the point that you will still qualify for the challenge but can reach the goal and maybe even surpass it.
You can just sign up again
And do another six months of weighing in and trying your best.
Another session?
Will there be another session this year or will it be next year? Oops I see that you have addressed this in another answer. I wonder it it would be possible to have a part of the challenge for people who have reached the higher BMI that is the goal for the challenge but who want to keep up the improvements.
We aren't sure right now
But as soon as we know, you'll here about it here on the blog
I wish!
I wish I had known about the challenge from the start! I definitely would have joined it. Oh well. It's too bad people have dropped out.
Should have made weigh ins mandatory...
I didn't know about the challenge until past the entry date, but I think if you do a challenge again, you should make the weigh ins mandatory to be included in the prize draws.
That way you can reward those who are actually making at least a tiny effort (enough to check in each week and update), rather than everyone who knew which day to sign up on the website.
Just a suggestion from someone watching at the sidelines doing the independant challange :)
Weigh IN's ARE Mandatory!
I believe it IS mandatory to weigh in each and every week or you are no longer eligible for the grand prizes. It's in the rules and regulations of the Challenge. FYI ;)
But good luck on the independent challenge!
That is something to consider
Right now, we aren't sure when we'll be running the Challenge again (with prizes) but that will for sure be something we consider in the future.
I would like to reiterate that just because a person isn't weighing in every week, that doesn't mean that they aren't still using the site. Plus, if winning that prize has helped somebody to make a positive change to their lifestyle, I think it is a good thing. Who's to say that winning a pair of runners didn't give someone that dropped out the confidence to get back off the couch and start again?
We are all on our own journeys, and the goal of XWeighted.com was to help everyone across Canada get healthier, not just those that wanted to follow the plan every week. I believe that those who signed up on a certain date didn't do it to win the prizes, they did it because they wanted to change their lives.
However, those that do weigh-in every week are the ones that get to win the ultimate grand prizes of course.
